Dog-Friendly Canada Travel Guide

Privacy Policy

Dogs Welcome (Canada) — Last updated: 5 June 2026

The short version: Dogs Welcome does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information about you. Everything happens on your own device.

This Privacy Policy explains how the Dogs Welcome mobile application ("the App", "we", "us") handles your information. Dogs Welcome is operated by David Gildea (trading as addressHQ) as an independent developer. This policy applies to the Canada edition of the App.

Information we do not collect

We do not collect any of the following:

Information stored only on your device

The App stores a small amount of information locally on your device to provide its core features:

You can clear this information at any time by using the "Clear all favourites" option in the App, or by deleting the App from your device.

Bundled directory data

The App includes a bundled directory of publicly available business information (names, addresses, postal codes, telephone numbers, and websites of dog-friendly venues and pet-friendly hotels across Canada). This data is included in the App at the time of release and is read from your device — no live connection to our servers is made to retrieve venue information.

Links to external services

The App allows you to:

When you choose to use any of these features, you leave the Dogs Welcome App and interact with a third party (the website, your phone carrier, the maps provider, or the messaging app you choose). Those third parties have their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties.

Children

The App is suitable for general audiences and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect any information from children, because we do not collect information from anyone.

Your privacy rights (Canadian residents)

Because the App collects no personal information, there is no personal data for us to access, correct, or delete, and nothing for us to disclose or sell. Under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy legislation, you have rights regarding personal information that organisations hold about you — but as the App holds none, those rights have nothing to attach to here.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example to reflect changes in how the App works or to comply with legal requirements. The most current version will always be available at this URL. We encourage you to review it periodically.
